Students enrolled in the University of Illinois Springfield's B.B.A. program choose from one of two focus options: a business administration comprehensive or a management concentration. Students who choose the school's business administration track dive deeper into broader technical areas or business, including finance and marketing, while students in the management track learn the critical analysis and conceptual skills necessary to manage people and entire organizations. Both online business administration degrees require at least 120 hours in foundation and core courses, as well as an Engaged Citizen Common Experience (ECCE.) For acceptance, students must have completed at least 54 hours of coursework from an accredited four-year university. Elective course options are unique to each program concentration. Both programs include a final capstone course in strategic management and courses are accessed through the Blackboard platform. The curriculum is designed to match the rigor of on-campus programs but to be accessible and engaging via the school's online platform. Average program completion time is two years, though this depends on the number of credit hours a student completes per semester. Students must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA in order to complete their degree. Before beginning UIS's business administration degree online program, students should have completed foundational coursework in accounting, economics, and stimulus, along with at least 45 lower-division credit hours with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all coursework. Students may petition to have qualifying upper-level credits transferred toward program requirements (though the school makes no guarantees). UIS requires that 50% of core business credit hours be completed through UIS. While no on-campus residency is required, students who need to fulfill foundation and general education course requirements may need to attend a local community college or another accredited online college to meet those needs before applying. All online students are offered the same per-hour tuition rate, with discounts for full-time students.
