Arming its students with advanced human resources management skills and a thorough understanding of organizational policy, East Carolina University's BSBA in management program is designed to prepare graduates to lead global organizations. Though multiple concentrations are available on-campus, online students are limited to the management concentration. Distance learners are connected with an academic advisor who assists in online registration. A comprehensive suite of online services includes access to the school's online library, writing center, and exam proctoring. Program requirements include completion of 123 combined foundations, core, concentration, and elective course credit hours, as well as a strategic management review course. Course topics span from strategic management expertise development to cultivating an understanding of the cultural environment of international business operations. The leadership and professional development component includes a leadership capstone, as well as completion of an ongoing professional development and ethical leadership portfolio. Students access online courses through the Blackboard and Centra virtual learning systems and courses are taught by the same professional faculty as the program's on-campus counterpart. Coursework may be delivered in both synchronous and asynchronous formats. Students can also opt to join ECU's Distance Education Student Organization (DESO). Transfer students must have a minimum of 30 applicable college-level hours and must hold a minimum 2.5 GPA on all credit earned. ECU also accepts associate degrees earned at a regionally-accredited institution. The school advises non-traditional students (learners age 24 and older) with no previous college experience to complete some community college coursework prior to application. The school offers both in- and out-of-state students a discounted online tuition rate and hosts ongoing virtual open houses for students interested in their online programs.
